The Southern Academy of Sport provide Strength and Conditioning, Sports Science and Physiotherapy services to athletes varying from grassroot, development, to world class, with the goal of helping each individual fulfil their sporting and personal potential. 

Whilst we work with athletes in over a dozen sports, our speciality in collision sports is reflected in our client base, which consists of over 50% rugby players and combat sport athletes. 

We have identified Sports Medicine and specifically Physiotherapy as a target growth area, and are seeking a practitioner aspiring to world class standards to help us fulfil our clinic’s potential.

 Job Description

             Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  •  Provide accurate diagnosis and effective treatment to a variety of patients, including athletic and general populations.
  • Undertake movement screening and biomechanical assessment, including running gait and bike fitting services.
  • A willingness and ability to provide Strength and Conditioning programming delivery to individuals in a semi-private format: this will initially form up to 20 hours of the role per week while the clinic grows.
  • Contribute toward athlete recovery programming and implementation.
  • Work in close liaison with Strength and Conditioning coaches on injury rehabilitation programming and delivery.
  • Assume some facility management and administrative responsibilities e.g. stock control, insurance paperwork.

    Essential

  • CSP Chartered Physiotherapist (this is a stipulation of several insurance companies we work with)
  • HCPC Registration
  • Minimum 12 months post-graduate experience.
  • Current basic life support and first aid qualifications
  • Computer literacy, including Microsoft office

            Desirable

  • Experience of working with development or high performance athletes.
  • Professional coaching qualification or accreditation e.g. CSCC/UKSCA/Fitness Industry (or working towards).

  • Provide Strength and Conditioning programming delivery to individuals, leading coaching delivery in a semi-private format, in both gym and field environments.
  • Contribute toward Strength and Conditioning program and curriculum design.
  • Contribute toward design and delivery of Athlete Education Program (AEP), providing implementable knowledge to athletes in recovery, mindset and nutrition practices.
  • Work in close liaison with Physiotherapists on injury rehabilitation programming and delivery.
  • Undertake performance testing and analysis.
  • Contribute toward Sport Science services e.g. Constant Blood Glucose Monitoring.
  • Co-lead our undergraduate placement program in partnership with the University of Bath.
  • Assume some facility management and administrative responsibilities.
